LIVERPOOL, U.K. [ JG ]  This one’s a heartbreaker.

Ringo Starr recently announced he’s no longer answering letters and returning autographs.  You might recall a Simpson’s episode showing him diligently answering all his fan mail.  That was parody based on truth.  Up until this year, he really DID.

I don’t know if you can imagine my dismay when unpacking this photo some time back:

Apparently, the sun triggered some sort of photochemical process that is slowly fading the image back into the whiteness of the original paper.  His trademark peace symbol is gone, and his signature is barely perceptible.

I’ve Photoshopped in some artificial contrast to allow the signature to show through here:

It was a favorite of my collection while it lasted.  Granted, there are so many out there I could probably pick up a replacement on eBay for just a few bucks.

But this one was mine, dammit.

Still, thanks for the memorabilia, Richard. Like the Beatles’ music, it was fun while it lasted…
