Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You…

June 24th, 2008

… Just Demand It.  And if your country takes too long to deliver, bust open its doors and riot.

Five Milwaukee flood victims and 14,000 others wait in line for their share of your tax money.

Politicos blame an “epidemic of hunger”.  It seems many have found the antidote for starvation.

Funny, but I don’t see the riot you’re describing in those pictures. I see a lot of folks waiting in a long line, but no riot. Perhaps you’ve not seen enough riots to know what a riot actually looks like.

“Riot” was United Press International’s term:

Also, the Associated Press also reported that “Scuffles began breaking out around 7 a.m. with people shoving, pushing, and taking a door off its hinges, bringing police in dozens of cars, authorities said.” I took the trouble of captioning the photos to give them context.

It would seem that your argument is with the people who were there, not the guy who took the time to read about (and comment upon) it.

[...] J. Gravelle tells the rioters looking for a federal handout the other day here in Milwaukee, “Ask not what the country can do for you….” [...]

Looks to me like the need a visit from the fat police, not food stamps.

“Five Milwaukee flood victims and 14,000 others wait in line for their share of your tax money.”
I think I’d rather my tax dollars feed people than continue to subsidize ConAgra and bail out corporations that cheat and lie their way into bankruptcy.

I respect your right to give away your money (or not) as you see fit.

I’d just ask that you extend me the same consideration…
