MADISON, WI [ STORY : Isthmus.com ]  It is the noblest of man’s quests:  how do we get more alcohol in our beer?

Fortunately, the best minds in Madison are working on the problem.  I can say that with complete confidence since the rest of the minds in Madison are either in government or academia.

Not only does this flip a frothy bird to the current crowd of prohibitionists, but it causes one to hearken back to the good ol’ days when beer (and cigarettes, for that matter) could be marketed to Americans young and old by lovable cartoon characters in what was, at one time, truly the land of the free.

And so, dear friends, my holiday toast to you is this:  Let us raise our (beer) glasses in celebration to the liberties we once took for granted, and freedoms that only exist in retrospect…

… Huzzah for our dear old Granny’s state, and nuzzah for our fearsome new Nanny State…
