MADISON, WI [ LINK : Capital Times ]  The headline from the Capital Times reads:
Town of Christiana bans some rifles

Your gut reaction to that banner determines which camp you are in.  Either you said to yourself “They can’t DO that”, which makes you a Constitutionally-aware American, OR you said “Good for them” which makes you gay.

I’m kidding.  It makes you a Communist, not a homosexual.  Although, “…to each according to his needs…” pretty much ensures that if the government NEEDS you to be gay, you’re gonna be gay.

Where was I?  Oh yeah, the gun thing.  So, no matter WHICH side you’re on in the firearm debate (the American side or the um… other one) you’ll feel like you’ve been duped after following the link to the complete story, whose actual text reads:

“Town of Christiana officials have unanimously voted to ban the use of rifles larger than .22 caliber within town limits.”

There is a world of difference between “Your Rifles Have Been Outlawed” and “Don’t Fire Off Any .45 Caliber Rounds Downtown”.  Obviously, the headline was written not to inform, but to mislead via grotesque hyperbole.

Lest you accuse my pot of calling their kettle black, I’ll admit up front that I purposely slap over-reaching headlines on my own postings, but I’m not a journalist.  Admittedly, I’m a couple things that start with the phonetic “jer-” sound, but jer-nalist isn’t one of ‘em.  Hint:  one ends with “off”.

That’s not news to you?  Of course not.  I just told you, I’m no journalist.

And neither is the hack who wrote that gun ban headline…
