Madison, WI [JG]  It’s stories like this one that get people thinking I make up the news.  But I don’t.  Margarine IS illegal in Wisconsin [story: WInews] restaurants.

It used to be outlawed in the whole state.  Convoys of Moms would trek to and fro across the Illinois border, sneaking “da Oleo” back by the gallon tub. Republican state Rep. Dale Kooyenga calls the law silly.  And he’s right.

But if all our lawmakers targeted all the “silly” laws for repeal, the entirety of the state’s criminal and municipal codes would fit on the back of a Jay Cutler trading card (in that space where other players highlight their career achievements).

Sadly, they are not.  And milk remains illegal in Wisconsin [story: HealthImpactNews.com].

And no, I didn’t make THAT up, either…
