Madison [JG] If what little I remember from the 1980s taught me anything, it’s this: Liberals love to do lines. And they get very irate if you leave ‘em out of it [story: Brookfield Patch]
In fact, they enlisted the AFT-CIO Goonions to sue the Board of Elections in an effort to get their way in the redistricting process back then. Sound familiar? It should.
Because the issue ended up in court in the 90s, too. And the 2000s. Just as it had back in the 1970s. And the 1960s. And the 1950s. You can see our legislature’s contentious chronology in its sordid entirety here: http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lrb/pubs/im/10im4.pdf
Please tell me you’re not surprised by this. Of COURSE drawing lines is divisive! That’s why you DRAW them. To divide things.
The concept of “divide and conquer”goes all the way back to Julius Caeser [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divide_and_rule]. Frankly, I’m all FOR being divided.
It’s being conquered that worries me…
